This option enables you start and stop the FreeProxy server and also start the FreeProxy as a console program.
Freeproxy provides a full set of features on Windows NT and 2000. It is not possible to install FreeProxy as a service under Windows 98. It can be run in Console mode under Windows 98 providing a full proxy except for some statics reporting. Under Windows 98, Start Service, Stop Service and Refresh are disabled.
This button installs FreeProxy as a service with the currently loaded data. The button is only highlighted if the service is not currently running. To change the parameters currently being used, stop FreeProxy, change the parameters and save, and then restart FreeProxy.
Stop and remove the service from the service control manager. This option will not stop programs started in console mode. The button is only enabled if the service is currently running.
Starts the program by running it from the console. The program will start and then appear to 'hang' as it waits for a connection; this is normal behaviour. To end the program, press Control-C at the console. The program may take up to 6 seconds to close while it "cleans up" resources.
Refreshes the service running status.
End the dialog and re-display the FreeProxy Control Centre.
